Following the lead of the high school students, 3 teams of students from the Notre Dame de Bellegarde school launch into the competition for the 20th edition of FIRST® Lego® League. Among the 3 teams, one is composed of elementary school students (ROBO’LYON Kids) and, for the first time this season, two are composed of 6th grade students (ROBO’LYON Juniors).
The FIRST® Lego® League was created in 1998. Each year, it allows more than 230,000 students – from 9 to 16 years old – worldwide to solve real problems such as food security, recycling, energy, water… They are challenged to find a solution and to design, build and program a robot. They will then have to display their robot on a playground.
The FIRST® Robotics Competition provides students the opportunity to make international connections, improve language skills, and take up the challenge to become future leaders in science and technology. Dean Kamen founder of FIRST®, Inventor and American businessman, is well known for the invention of the Segway PT. Dean created FIRST® in 1989 to inspire students in science and technology.
"To transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders."
